Unit 6: Integral Assesment

Hello All,
After assessing areas of my life, I came to realize I need to develop a better attitude about some personal relationships in my life, particularly with my brother. My brother is my best friend and he is currently in training in the Army and will become a Green Beret in May of next year. At first, I was upset he decided to join the army because our relationship would not be as close as it has always been. I feared for him and became very overwhelmed with emotion. After completing this exercise, I came to the understanding that no matter where we are psychically in the world, we will always share that "brother-sister" bond, even if he is across seas. This is an area in my life that needs growth and healing because sometimes I do not know how to deal with the stress of him being away, or even the thought he may not ever come home. In order to foster a better awareness of this, I have turned to prayer as an exercise. Prayer keeps me stable and optimistic that he will indeed be alright given whatever situation he may be in. I am blessed to have family and friends who share these same emotions, so keeping positive thoughts in our heads is a big focus for my family.

  1. Joncie,
I am envious of your relationship with your brother. My sister and I are only close when not near one another. She lives 22 hours away and we get along great when she comes to visit it seems the first 22 minutes are enough. I am glad that prayer works so well for you. It is amazing the distance prayer can cover and how good one can feel from the action. I have not been able to use prayer to help me with my journey, a very long story. Have you found other methods to help you in journeys? I have found meditation and exercises work best for me.
Sending positive thoughts at you and your family.
    Smiles

  2. JOncie,

First, tell you brother THANK YOU! He is very brave and a hero already.

I too, need and feel the power of prayer. I try to pray often, but find that my prayer can sometimes be "superficial". Meaning, I just pray when I want something. I am going to try to pray with more substance. I have to rely on the faith that we just need to turn it over to God and His Will will be done. God Bless.

  3. Hello Joncie,

Excellent post. I agree that prayer changes things. It is important to realize that we should not stress over things that we just don’t have control over. This is something that I still have not figured out s trust me, I understand. Just know that we all make our own choices and pray that God protects him and keeps happiness in your brother’s life. I do think that the subtle mind exercise would be good for you and your inner self in order to stay positive and encouraged.
    Keep up the good work!
